PROGRAM EXPANSION & NEW HEADQUARTERS

The Phoenix Center, located at 1007 Avenue F in Marble Falls, TX, is home to Camp Phoenix extracurricular programs and now also serves as a freestanding, community-based mental health clinic, known as the Phoenix Wellness Center.
History:
Originally founded in 2007 as a 501(c)(3) organization, Camp Phoenix first served local children through free weekend, overnight retreats at Candlelight Ranch and with free art, music and yoga programs at satellite locations throughout the community.
In October of 2008, the organization acquired a building named the Phoenix Center, at 1007 Avenue F in Marble Falls, which allowed for the creation of an ongoing after school program called Youth Rising. Youth Rising provides research-based therapies that address the well being of the whole child: body, mind and spirit. Programs include weekly yoga classes, therapeutic arts groups and Suzuki violin classes, all of which are free of cost to participants and tailored specifically for children with mental health needs.
Through the development of these first two facets of service, Camp Phoenix staff identified an acute need within the community for more comprehensive and accessible mental health support services. They responded with Phase One of the Phoenix Wellness Center in the fall of 2009. Phase 1 includes a free weekly group therapy session for adolescent girls facilitated by a licensed mental health professional. Additionally, counselors meet with select clients on a weekly basis for free of cost individual therapy. In three years the Phoenix Wellness Center will be a ground-breaking provider of accessible talk, play, music and art therapy, and preventive health programs for children and families in need.
The Phoenix Center's programs are available to area families and non-profit organizations that serve children in need (such as The Boys and Girls Club of the Highland Lakes, The Highland Lakes Family Crisis Center, CASA, and The Hill Country Child Advocacy Center).
